Discharge - Mobile Game | 2D Hand-Drawn Roguelite Shoot'em Up [WIP]

Discharge is a work-in-progress 2D hand-drawn shoot ’em up with roguelite elements, built around a single core idea: absorb and release.

You play as a creature that can absorb enemy projectiles and fire them back. Manage your energy carefully. Absorbing too much overheats you and causes damage, while staying in the sweet spot boosts your power.

Each run is a sequence of combat rooms pulled from a curated pool, featuring enemy waves and a boss at the end of each stage, each with its own theme and enemy types. After every boss, you choose an upgrade that shapes how your run evolves.

The focus is on tight gameplay, risk–reward decisions, and clear, responsive visuals. I’m responsible for the game art and design, developed in collaboration with a programmer.
